April wraps up the traditional “high season” active time of year on Sanibel. The island’s social calendar bids farewell to the busier months with several events on Sanibel and Captiva you won’t want to miss.

4/1 – Easter Egg Hunt and Dolphin Cruise – Whether you have family in town visiting, or if you have little ones of your own, mark your calendar for the Adventures in Paradise Easter cruise. The cruise features an Easter egg hunt, combined with a breathtaking boat ride for a truly unique holiday celebration.

4/1 – Sundial’s Easter Buffet on the Gulf – Enjoy Easter “island style” with live music, panoramic Gulf views and an expanded holiday buffet. Reservations are required for this Sundial Resort event.

4/3 – Free Calusa/Shell Mound Trail Tour – Join naturalists at J.N. Ding Darling as they guide you through the enchanting Calusa/Shell Mound boardwalk trail. Learn the history of the Calusa people, as well as the native Florida vegetation surrounding the walkway.

4/6 & 4/7 – CROW Yard Sale – Hosted at the CROW Visitor’s Center, this annual yard sale offers a wide selection of donated furniture, artwork, books, among other hidden treasures. All proceeds benefit CROW.

4/8 – Free Florida Manatees Program – Stop in J.N. Ding Darling for its free educational program about the Florida manatees. Learn the challenges this native species is facing, along with ways you can help.

4/8 – 18th Annual SanCap Cares Island Celebration – SanCap Cares’ mission is to raise awareness and money for the Golisano Children’s Hospital located at Healthpark in Ft. Myers. Held at the Sanctuary Golf Club, this year’s SanCap Cares event honors all of its contributing sponsors with a dinner and auction to raise funds for the new Pediatric Behavioral Health Initiative at Golisano Children’s Hospital.

4/11 – Twilight Talk: 55 Years After the Causeway – Join the locals as they reflect on the causeway, its history and effects on the island 55 years after it was initially built. This event will be held at the Sanibel Community House.

4/11 – Double Feature Night – Come down to the Community House to enjoy the movies “Postcards & Photos, The Early Years 1886 – 1947” as well as the sequel “1948 – 1986.” During intermission, vintage movie trailers will be shown.

4/19 – Taking Charge of Your Financial Health – Sponsored by F.I.S.H. of SanCap, this financial event will help educate individuals and their families on how to learn basic budgeting, reduce debt and increase credit scores.

4/22 – 4/28 – 2018 Offshore Sailing School Performance Race Week – This weeklong performance features 40 sailors training with expert coaches to learn racing tactics and strategies. Registration is required for this event, which is held at South Seas Resort.
